dedicated to micro- and nano-electronics industry innovation

SYNCHROTRON X-RAYS AND NEUTRON RADIATION

A key player in the high reliability market, the PAC-G provides European companies with a broad spectrum of neutron energies (fast neutrons with thermal neutrons) with a homogeneous and adjustable flux.

2D/3D IMAGING

Unique 2D and 3D imaging techniques available at the neutron source ILL and synchrotron x-rays source ESRF help to unlock the secrets of electronic components, with phase contrast imaging and in operando characterisation.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHARACTERISATION

Combining the high-end techniques available at ILL and ESRF with the complementary state-of-the-art techniques available at the nanocharacterisation platform at CEA-Leti, a whole chemical and physical characterisation of material and devices can be obtained.

What is PAC-G?

The Platform for Advanced Characterisation Grenoble (PAC-G) offers advanced characterization services dedicated to micro/nanoelectronics innovation, set up within the framework of the Technological Research Institute Nanoelec, thanks the funding for future investments (reference ANR-10-AIRT-05).
The members of Nanoelec’s Characterisation programme are the European neutron source ILL, the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility ESRF, the CEA-Leti, the Subatomic Physics and Cosmology Laboratory (CNRS-UGA) as research partners and STMicroelectronics, SOITEC and Schneider as industrial partners.

Synchrotron X-rays Topography

The characterisation of crystals or layers deposited on a crystalline substrate provides insight into their performance for electronic or other applications and help improve their quality.

The facilities available through PAC-G offers a service portfolio of Bragg diffraction X-ray imaging techniques, providing quantitative and qualitative information on defects in single crystals.

Neutron Radiation hardness testing

Neutron-induced single event effects (SEE) and radiation hardness testing facilities of PAC-G offer
a homogeneous and adjustable neutron flux.

High energy and thermal neutrons help to anticipate the results from the preparation of proton and heavy ion tests and a broad spectrum of neutron energy from fast to thermal neutrons (14 MeV, 2.5 MeV and 25 meV) is available on the same site.
